  • The Jean Snow PKN Explosion

Apologies for the bombastic title, but I am very pleased to report that I am now going to be working with KDa on PechaKucha Night-related projects. There are a lot of exciting projects down the line that I can’t really talk much about, but for now one thing you will be seeing my input quite…

  • Delaware at Minimal Tokyo

I’m a big fan of visual unit Delaware — most recently for their cool Records iPhone app — and I’m told they will be participating at the next Minimal Tokyo, with this being their first — and quite possibly only — live performance. The event kicks off at 22:00 at Unit (3,500 yen at the…

  • Guide to Japanese Street Snaps on the Web

So where’s the best place to catch the latest in Japanese street snaps? Mekas provides us with a comprehensive look at the Japanese sites that do exactly that. As always, the piece is accompanied by terrific photography by Sean Wood.

  • Lonely in Tokyo

Andrea Innocent is an Australian illustrator/designer who is, as she writes on her site, a “self-confessed nipponophile and otaku.” I got a kick out of her “Lonely in Tokyo” series, which mixes illustration with photos taken in Tokyo, like the one seen above. • Aram Dikiciyan

German photographer Aram Dikiciyan — currently based in Tokyo — has a show on right now at Clear Gallery, running until February 14. Max attended the opening, and has a gallery of shots up.

  • Suidobashi

Photo taken while biking yesterday around the city, using the iPhone’s Toy Camera app. Pictured, a spot near Suidobashi station.

  • Bape and SV

Two things you would want to pick up: Rizzoli’s gorgeous book on A Bathing Ape, and the latest issue of Studio Voice (398). Holding said products in the photos above, that would be the lovely Marie, who did translations for both.

  • Gabo Too Unpleasant for Apple

Remember that Gabo game for the iPhone from Seaman creator Yoot Saito? Apparently, Apple turned it down when it was submitted for inclusion on the iTunes App Store because, as reported by Kotaku, it was too “unpleasant.” Damn.

  • Takurazuka Meets Phoenix Wright

Now this is not something I ever thought I’d see: the Takurazuka all-woman musical theater troupe is adapting Capcom’s Phoenix Wright series — revolving around detective work and trials — for the stage. I’ve been meaning to see a Takurazuka show for ages, and I think this might finally get me to go — yes,…
