Good Design Award 2009

The results for this year’s edition of the Good Design Award were recently announced, and you can have a look at all the winning products through the nifty Good Design Finder. Have a look at the top 15 here, which includes this summer’s giant Gundam statue in Odaiba (now sadly gone), and the Panasonic Massage Chair pictured above. The reason I highlight the chair is because I’ve had the great joy of using it on a few occasions, and it’s simply amazing — Panasonic was kind enough to send one to the KDa office, since Astrid Klein was part of the chair’s ad campaign.

You can see an exhibition of the top winning products at the Tokyo Midtown Design Hub in Roppongi until November 8.

Remo Camerota’s Polaroid Portraits

Remember Remo Camerota‘s “Polaroid Portraits” project? I previously featured some shots he took during PauseTalkshere, and then here with me. Remo has finally had a chance to give the project a proper exhibition, with the opening happening this past Saturday in New York, as part of the Mark Batty Publisher Urban Arts Fest 2009. Those full-size prints look great!

Hexad

Loving these hexagonal Hexad coffee tables, designed by Tomoko Azumi for Rocket Gallery in London as part of an exhibition (“Book A Table”) that runs until November 7. Looks like it was just commissioned for the show, but they should really commercialize it. Via Dezeen.

PauseTalk Returns in November

Posting this again for those who missed it earlier this week: due to my continuing health issues, I’m going to have to cancel the planned October edition of PauseTalk, which was set to take place this coming Monday (5th). The next edition will happen in November, probably on the second Monday (November 9), so as not to coincide with Tokyo Design Week.
