  • Squirrel Curry

The sign in the middle has “risucaree” written on it, which translates to “squirrel curry.” Not really sure what this is about, but it could be some kind of brand name, as I’m pretty sure that nobody in Japan eats squirrel.

  • Neighborhood

My neighborhood. Picture taken just down the street from my apartment.

  • Yuko

Yuko studying very hard. What you see near the bottom of the picture is her new pride and joy, an electronic Chinese-Japanese-English dictionary. She got a nice communist red cover for it.

  • House

An old house on the road in front of my apartment.

  • New McDonald’s

Groovy little scooter I saw the other day parked not far from my place. I really like the shape.

  • Gyoza Stadium

People enjoying their gyoza at the Gyoza Stadium.

  • Creepy Crawlies

The Gyoza Stadium is part of the Namja Town theme park, which is a sort of ghost town amusement park. What distinguishes it from something like the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland (including the one at Tokyo Disneyland) is that all the ghosts and creepies here are of the Japanese variety. Here we see some heads…

  • Lanterns

One of the stalls at Ikebukuro’s Gyoza Stadium.

  • The Candidates

I just went out and took a picture of the posters for the 4 candidates of today’s election. At the top is Dr. Nakamatsu (in an extreme pointing pose), underneath is Keiko Higuchi, next to her is the Japanese communist candidate, and beneath him is Tokyo’s one and only Shintaro Ishihara!
