Sha-shokudo

I love the idea behind Sha-shokudo, a new eating spot in Shibuya inspired by company cafeterias, which is kinda like a real one — it’s designed/produced by Suppose Design Office, and in the same building as its office, so serves as a de facto cafeteria for its employees. More details and photos in this Spoon & Tamago post.

State of Tokyo

State of Tokyo is a rather nice new site by Alex Abian covering the people and places of Tokyo, with beautiful photography throughout. Looks like it’s going to be fun to follow, with coverage of places like Takeo, a tiny little restaurant in Shibuya that is run in the mornings by the pictured Takeo (in the afternoon, it turns into a different restaurant).

Also Soup Stock Tokyo

also-soup-stock-tokyo-1

I’ve always quite liked the Soup Stock Tokyo chain — serving mostly nicely compact soup dishes — and now they’ve opened a new more restaurant-like (less fast-food) shop in Jiyugaoka called simply enough Also Soup Stock Tokyo, with a menu that is a bit more full featured. From all the photos found in this Spoon & Tamago post, it looks like a beautiful space. The design is by Yuko Nagayama.
