I saw this stand-up special pop up on Netflix, and since I’ve found these two to be pretty funny in the past — mostly in cameos — I decided to watch it, and really liked it. It doesn’t have huge laughs, but I found myself constantly giggling throughout — I mostly like their laidback vibe, and the kinda stupid jokes they make (like the “OJ Joke Trilogy” bit).

Reggie Watts: Spatial

At the extreme opposite end of that Michael Che comedy special is the new Reggie Watts special – called Spatial – also just released on Netflix. I’ve been a pretty big fan of Watts, and know what to expect from him – awkward laughs, weirdness, musical interludes, etc. This is what you get here, but everything just fell completely flat for me, to the point where I really started hating it (but forced myself to watch it until the end). I don’t know if it’s that I’m over the type of stuff he does or what, but man, doesn’t make me want to watch anything else he does.
Michael Che Matters

I really like Michael Che – I got to see him perform live last year at the Just for Laughs festival, and of course enjoy him every week on SNL’s “Weekend Update.” I was pretty happy to see a comedy special by him pop up on Netflix last week, and I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed. Very, very funny, and similar in tone to what I had seem him perform before (but entirely new material). Well worth watching.
