Hotel Dusk: Room 215 for the Nintendo DS is a game I absolutely loved — and so did my wife. I never knew a sequel had been released, and part of the reason is because it never came out in North America — an English version was made and released in the UK though (I learned all of this thanks to this article on Waypoint). After I mentioned really wanting to play it, someone (thanks, Dan) was kind enough to send me their copy. I’ve played about an hour or so, and so far I’m absolutely loving it. It feels like I’m back in that Hotel Dusk world, and I had the biggest smile on my face the first time I heard that familiar audio cue when I did something correctly.

Yuriko Kotani
I’m a huge comedy nerd, and love American stand-up as well as Japan-style manzai comedy. It was therefore interesting for me to come across this video clip of UK-based comedian Yuriko Kotani, who brings a Japanese sensibility to the Western art of stand-up. The routine in the video is pretty funny, but the kicker is really the last bit, which my wife is now taking as her mantra (“Get it right, motherfucker!”)
Black Mirror
With all the buzz this UK series has been getting of late – a new special just aired – I decided to finally check it out, and I’m sure glad I did. I just watched the very first episode (there are 2 seasons of 3 episodes each, plus the new special) and it was definitely captivating. As everyone has been describing it, it’s a sort of Twilight Zone-inspired anthology, but the first episode is entirely based in reality (i.e. this could happen). Can’t wait to watch the rest.
