I thought I was pretty much done watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. After absolutely loving the first season, and then finding the second season to be OK, I barely watched more than 2-3 episodes of the 3rd season — I suddenly wasn’t into it at all. With the release of the 4th, I didn’t think I’d watch it, but after my wife kept pushing me to do so (and also hearing some friends tell me it was good), I decided to check it out, and just blasted through the 6 episodes (and I didn’t know it was just a “part 1,” and was surprised that there were only 6). Putting Kimmy in that tech/startup setting was an absolute blast, and the “documentary” episode with DJ Fingerblast was just ridiculously funny, maybe one of the best episodes of the series. I’m now very much looking forward to part 2 of the season, which will be the show’s final season.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Season 3)
Strangely, I’m having a hard time finding the drive to watch this new season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I loved the first two seasons to death, and was super excited to get a new season last month. But I’ve watched the first 2-3 episodes, and they’re just not hitting for me. I don’t think it’s awful, but I’m not laughing like I used to, and I just feel a bit bored watching them — the musical sequence with Titus was a chore to watch for me, yet I’ve loved all the ones he’s done in the past. I’m not sure if it’s just that I haven’t been in the right mood to watch it, and I do plan on watching more, but I’m quite surprised by my lack of enthusiasm for season 3 so far.

I’m about halfway through this new season, and so far it’s just as good as the first one, dammit. God I love this show and these characters, and the quick fire pacing, and the jokes, and the everything (and yeah, that opening theme song still just the best). In the first episode, I also loved all those Kardashian jokes – and the funny thing is that, like Dong, my wife watched all of Keeping Up with Kardashians a few years ago to improve her English listening. And what’s up with all those Montreal jokes?
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Holy shit did I ever love this series to death. I pretty much binged the entire season in one night, and when I got to the end, I just wanted more. It begins with that theme song, that I love to bits – certainly one of the best TV theme songs ever. For the rest, it’s just fun as hell, and feels so much like a Tina Fey joint, with that manic cadence and silly humor. Really can’t wait for a second season.
