  • Horse’s Head

A very original way to display clothes in Osaka’s America Mura. It definitely caught my attention.

  • A Visit by Mister Larsson

I’ve decided to invite a guest blogger over for a week, and none other then all-around-cool-guy and probably the biggest Ayaya fan in Sweden, Jesper Larsson of Next Century Modern. I’ll still be blogging regularly, but he’ll be popping up also to bring in news about stuff that he’s into (which is usually stuff that…

  • Paper Sky 7

Picked up the latest issue of PAPER SKY yesterday (so fresh it’s not even supposed to be released before next Monday). Takes us on a nice tour of Paris bookstores. I’m hoping next year we can make it to Europe for a trip that would take us to Paris, London, and also Sweden and Hungary.

  • Kill Bill

Today KILL BILL gets released in Japan. I got my discount ticket in the afternoon, and will probably go see it tomorrow night.

  • The Filthy J-pop Idols

Warren Ellis recently asked readers to send in some IDs for his site that played around with the theme “the filthy monkey, it plans” (the tagline of his blog, along with the image of a monkey). I sent in the above image, which was posted yesterday. Update (16/08/13): The image is unfortunately no longer available.…

  • Graffiti

Some graffiti in the America Mura section of Osaka, an area popular with the young set (sort of like Tokyo’s Shibuya).

I know I might be overdoing it with the posts on ADAM AND JOE GO TOKYO, but I need to mention that episode 4 features and absolutely fascinating look at the insides of the Maiwa Denki factory, and features a closing performance by one of my biggest guilty pleasures of the year, the helplessly addictive…

  • Adam and Joe and Sakana-kun

Oh man, ADAM AND JOE GO TOKYO just gets better and better. Episode 2 features an interview with uber-weirdo and fish expert Sakana-kun, a date with the Kano sisters, an interview with the man behind two of the shorts in THE ANIMATRIX, as well as the excellent COWBOY BEBOP series, and a look at some…

  • Bollywood

This week’s TIME ASIA features a cover feature on what they’re calling the New Bollywood. I must admit that I’ve never really ventured inside the world of Indian cinema, but this article has got me interested in checking out a few of the films mentioned. Something to look into.

  • Japanese Version of Kill Bill

Seems like I shouldn’t complain about having to wait for the late release of KILL BILL in Japan as it seems that we’ll be getting a special Japan cut of the film which pumps up the violence (for instance, there is no black and white in the big fight scene at the end, so the…
