Metropolis Renewed

With its latest issue, Tokyo’s English weekly city guide METROPOLIS has just launched an updated version of itself. I’d say they’ve done a good job, and I’m already liking what I see. More things to read, a return of the back page editorial (the old TOKYO CLASSIFIED, as the magazine used to be called, “Rants & Raves” column was a guilty pleasure), and better overall organization (like putting all the listings together, as city guides usually do it). It’s also nice to see them now include mini-columns on Japanese movies and TV shows. For a magazine about Tokyo, I always felt that the coverage tended to favor non-Japanese arts and media a little too much. So congrats on the renewal, and here’s hoping they can keep it up.
