  • 2 Channel Vending Machine

I stopped by Nakano Broadway yesterday to take some pictures for my upcoming PingMag article (at the ANDTOY shop — and contrary to what it says on their front page, they do take international orders), and spotted this vending marchine selling 2 Channel merchandise. • Handwritten Japanese Fonts

PingMag has a piece up on handwritten Japanese fonts, and I was surprised to find that all those handwritten signs in front of shops are actually the product of professionals!

  • Maid in Japan

The new issue of METROPOLIS has a cover feature (link expires after a week) written by Patrick Macias on Tokyo’s Akihabara district. Patrick also has a new podcast series, called “Hot Tears of Shame.” Still no feed though. Update: The podcast now has a feed.

By his own admission, blogger extraordinaire Jean Snow “lives and breathes design and pop culture in Tokyo”. If you’re too lazy…

  • Samurai Girl

Francesco, and editor for Hobby Media in Italy, sends me word of a new book he’s co-edited for an art book publisher there (Drago) called SAMURAI GIRL, covering the photography of Julie Watai, who you might have seen as an idol in the group Pikapika or in the pages of SMARTGIRL. S-Style strikes again! S…
