Tokyo Footwear Designer

Here’s another design-related job posting — which I think will make some of you readers happy — this time from the Nike Tokyo Design Centre, for a Tokyo Footwear Designer position.

Nike is currently recruiting for a Tokyo Footwear Designer to join our Tokyo Design Centre. We are looking for someone with a strong cultural tie to Japan, preferably a Japanese national, with an industrial design educational background and professional corporate experience designing consumer products. Footwear design experience a plus with at least two-years of Product Design experience. They need to be able to work in a small Team environment, while keeping a regional/local product focus, with strong international scheduling/time management skills. Solid computer experience with 3-D, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software is helpful. A strong ability to understand consumer needs, ideate and problem solve are critical. Styling is important, but enhancing performance through design driven innovations is what Nike is all about. Strong sketching skills and ability to articulate ideas both verbally and through drawings are mandatory. Bilingual English and Japanese language skills required.

If you know of anyone who would be interested in the Tokyo Footwear Designer position, please have them forward a current resume and related work sample images to email michelle.dechene@nike.com.

It looks like I’ll be paying this Tokyo Design Center a visit sometime in December — can’t wait!
