Second Life in Japan

Second Life — the online virtual world that boasts rainfalls of dildoes (to get a better take on it, follow Warren Ellis‘ excellent weekly “Second Life Sketches” column for Reuters) — is coming to Japan. Will it catch on here? I finally got around to downloading the client a few weeks ago, wanting to find out what all the hype was about, but haven’t really spent any time there beyond my first visit. What can I say — as with the upcoming PLAYSTATION HOME service, I’d rather just chat with people in dedicated chat programs then have to physically move in a virtual space to do it. I realize that the visuals can add a certain dimension to relationships, but I guess I’m just not really in need of that (yet). Via Tokyomango.
