This Week in Cycling

This week in biking? Well, I just wanted to write a post about my latest biking adventures, and didn’t really know what to use as a title, so… And who knows, maybe it’ll turn into a regular series of posts.

I did a few bike-related purchases this past week, and top of the list is my new Cateye Micro Wireless Cyclocomputer (black). It was something I’d been considering getting for a while now, and I’m so happy I finally did. For those who don’t know what this is, it’s a tiny electronic device that you put on your bike and tells you your current speed, distance and time pedaled, etc. The wireless means that there is no wire connecting the device and the tracker you put on the fork of your bike. It’s just really nice to finally have a better idea of how far I’m going when I do my daily runs, or when I head to different parts of the city.

Next, I really wanted a small messenger bag. I needed something to put my wallet and camera when I go out, but was finding that my regular Porter bag would often swing around and get in the way. I’d been looking at bags for a while now, and finally settled on the North Face Winter Base Camp Messenger (XS) bag. I really dug the winter cammo pattern, and it was pretty much the size I was looking for.

Finally, I picked up a copy of THE BICYCLING GUIDE TO COMPLETE BICYCLE MAINTENANCE & REPAIR, to help me take better care of my bike.
