Likemind Tokyo

081207-likemind

Finally made it out to my first Likemind Tokyo event last Friday — it’s much more convenient to go now that I’m based in Harajuku. It was good fun, and for those wondering how it compares to PauseTalk, it’s basically a casual get-together without any moderated discussion — sort of like what PauseTalk turns into after we’re done with the official proceedings. The Rhythm Cafe venue is nice and funky too — and great cupcakes!

The 5th Annual International Artivist Film Festival — “dedicated to raising awareness for the interdependence between Humanity, Animals, and the Environment” — is coming to Tokyo next weekend (December 12-14), held at the Instituto Cervantes in Ichigaya.

All screenings are free, and will be held on Friday and Saturday nights, and all-day Sunday — the full schedule can be found here (and in Japanese here). Note that all films shown are having their premieres in Japan through the festival.

Time Saved

Time Saved. Time Saved. No more.

Yes, the infamous “Time Saved” mantra/bug that has been plaguing my feed for a while now has finally been dealt with, thanks to the efforts of my dear friend Joseph Keenan. The problem related to the version of Spam Karma — an anti-spam plugin for WordPress — I was using. Joe combed through files, and found that it originated from the plugin. Updating to a newer version fixed the problem.

Zoom Into Arcade Mania

081203-brian

Well, lots of great things happening for Arcade Mania these days. Not only is it now available on Amazon in the US (and a few other countries), but NTV’s Zoom In!! Super morning show had a 10-minute feature on it this morning, including an interview with Brian (above) — he writes more about the experience in this Kotaku post. It’s nice to be getting some good buzz in Japan — it actually made sales on Amazon Japan go up quite a bit.

Below, another shot from the TV segment.
