The fantastic Tokyoiter project — creating cover images for an imaginary Tokyo-based New Yorker-like magazine — has now opened a shop, with prints on offer. The runs are limited though, so jump on covers you’d really like to get and frame as soon as you can, but they do promise to introduce new runs with a new selection of covers in the future.

I haven’t shared any Tokyoiter covers in a while — while they were preparing for their recent exhibition, the site had gone a bit quiet — but there have been plenty of additions following the show, and the latest one is the lovely cover you see here, created by my buddy Louis-Étienne Vallée.
As I had posted recently, The Tokyoiter project went physical with its first exhibition, and at the event you could purchase the lovely tote bag you see pictured. Big thanks to my buddy Andrew — one of the co-creators of The Tokyoiter — for helping me get my hands on one.
I’ve mentioned the Tokyoiter project before, and was happy to see that they’ve launched an exhibition to celebrate the project, and to launch a few new “covers.” This Facebook post includes a few photos taken by Julie Skogoreva from the opening. The show is held at the Kaisu Hostel, and runs until July 7.
The Tokyoiter project just debuted two new covers by the YamanoteYamanote duo of Julien Mercier and Julien Wulff.
The Tokyoiter is a fictional tribute to the great covers of The New Yorker, done as a project to celebrate the love illustrators have for the city of Tokyo. It was started by a couple of friends of mine, Andrew Joyce and David Robert, along with Tatsushi Eto. A new cover is shared on the site every Sunday, and you can watch this PechaKucha presentation to hear Andrew and David talk about the project. The cover in this post is by Tilly (aka Running for Crayons).
