  • An Afternoon in Aoyama

I head out the door a bit early (well, anything before noon is early for me) to have lunch with Lil in Aoyama. After a delicious lunch in the Spiral building, we hit the Spiral gift shop, as well as the special calendar shop they’ve setup at the entrance. Before seperating, she lends me her…

  • Dobekkosu

Late last night we had a craving for ramen, and decided to check out a new-ish shop we’d spotted a while back but hadn’t gotten around to visiting yet. Dobekkosu, a shop specializing in tonkotsu ramen, is situated not far from Sunshine Street in Ikebukuro (walk down it, then turn right at the first street…

  • TB.Selecao

You might notice little changes popping up here and there as I work on a slight update of the site (which I’ll end up calling 3.1). The main feature I’ve added (for now) is a new sidebar section I’m calling TB.SELECAO (I guess I have a thing for Portuguese titles). You’ll find it underneath the…

  • Crap

Looks like I’m not doing so well in the Asia Weblog Awards. A blog called Kind of Crap is leading the pack. Oh well.

  • Plusminus Zero Update

The Plusminus Zero brand (an offshoot of toy maker Takara) has updated its site with nice images of all their product offerings. Looks like they’ll also soon be offering an online store.

  • Inside the Nouvel Exhibit

Here is a shot taken in the first room of the Jean Nouvel exhibit. At the top are slides of his works being projected, while the wall around you has miniature versions of all the slides being shown. It made for quite an interesting sight.

  • Minoru Nomata

Here is one of the Nomata towers. This work was present at the LANDSCAPES WITH ARCHITECTURE show.

  • Jean Nouvel

After Ginza I was off to Shinjuku to check out the Jean Nouvel exhibit at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. Nouvel has produced an amazing array of works, all buildings that I would absolutely love to visit in person. A while back I mentioned an article in CASA BRUTUS about “slow architecture,” and he…

  • Composition

I got this “Standable Calendar 2004 Composition” yesterday at NADiff. It was designed by Good Morning Inc. Update (16/08/13): The image is unfortunately no longer available. I’m guessing this calendar made my 2004 better.

  • Kono Does Japan

I’m putting up this image from the GGG site, another Takashi Kono work, because I really like it.
