Japanese Films at Cannes

I really need to see INNOCENCE. Damn Virgin Cinemas for cancelling the showings with English subs!

Two Japanese movies have been nominated to compete in the 57th Cannes Film Festival for the Palme d’Or prize, organizers of the festival said Wednesday. One is the animation movie “Innocence” directed by Mamoru Oshii, 52, and the other is “Nobody Knows” by Hirokazu Koreeda, 41. “Innocence” will be up against “Shrek 2” in the animation category. “Nobody Knows” is based on a true story of four siblings abandoned by their mother.
