  • Off to Taipei

I’m off to Taipei in a couple of hours and will be back on Saturday, so if you’re trying to reach me by email, I won’t be able to get back to you until then. I’ve got my Travelers’s Notebook from Midori, and hope to have some interesting things to add to it!

  • Heisuke Kitazawa

I’m really enjoying the works of illustrator/designer Heisuke Kitazawa. The image pictured above can be bought as poster. Via StartDrawing.org. Update (16/11/13): The image is no longer available.

  • This Week at MoCo Loco

My weekly Tokyo post for MoCo Loco is up, this time covering Daisuke Sudo’s skewered food plates, Hisashi Hojin’s Light Village, and the Noguchi Coffee Table (pictured above).

  • Cloverfield Manga

CLOVERFIELD, J.J. Abrams’ (as a producer) upcoming monster film, gets a manga prequel by Yoshiki Togawa that leads into the opening of the movie, and that you can read online here (Japanese-only). Via io9.

  • Casio Keyboard with Integrated Famicom

Jason DeGroot (6955) performed at the “Blip” festival in New York last month, and the MAKE blog gives us a peak at something that he’s been working on: a Casio keyboard with integrated Famicom. Seems like this is planned as a kit to be sold.

  • I Am a Material Boy

I’m a materialist, and I love bling. The only comment I have to add is that for me, RELAX lost its way when it overindulged in all things slow life and green because I was looking to it for cultural coverage, which pretty much fell by the wayside.

  • Test Tone

Photo taken at this past Saturday’s “Test Tone” event at SuperDeluxe by Yuki Nakano. Update: My mistake, the photo wasn’t taken at the “Test Tone” event. Update (16/11/13): The photo is no longer available.
