Onihei Hankacho

Of the three new series I wanted to check out during the 2017 winter anime season, this is the one I’m enjoying the most. As I had written in my preview post, I didn’t know much about this series except for the general Edo-period setting, and that the main character is a law enforcer. Two episodes in, I’m really drawn in by the very detailed and beautifully animated environments, and story-wise, it was the second episode that really hooked me as well. The action sequences (usually one per episode) are also nicely animated, and very dynamic. It’s also got a fantastically stylish opening credit sequence, with nice theme song. I’ll be watching this.
