PauseTalk Vol. 98 took place on Thursday, August 28 at Bananafish Books, and although we were fewer this time, I still had a wonderful time conversing with the group, touching on everything from leaving the city (or the country), to the draw of corporate culture (some of the benefits) vs. the freedom of entrepreneurship, the mind constantly at work, New Zealand (and the pace of life), and everything in between. I do believe it might also have been the first edition with all participants being women (well, other than me). Big thanks also to Olga for keeping me and my wine company as we waited for others to arrive –and for bringing chocolates for the “chocolate” edition (per the promo image for the event).
Below, the list of participants:
- Candy (Trade Assistant)
- Eliza Flow (Graphic Design Manager)
- Jean Snow (Game Developer)
- Olga (Marketing & Communications)
- Simbi Ladipo (Product Designer)
- Xenia Sidorenko (Textile Recycling Queen)
Also, I shared some of my plans for the upcoming Vol. 100 – which also mark 20 years of producing the series, and is likely to happen in December – and that’s to produce a commemorative zine. The idea so far is to invite anyone who has attended at least one edition of PauseTalk in the past to contribute one page (or spread). I don’t have a theme in mind, I want to keep it open, but it could be something that relates to what they experienced or got out of attending PauseTalk. I’ll share more details on the project soon, but I expect most of the organization to happen through the WeChat group.
What’s next? PauseTalk Vol. 99 should normally happen sometime in October, with the Vol. 100 in December. To stay updated, the best way is to join the WeChat group (contact me to be added).
